Greenstar to compete with Fingal County Council in North Dublin
€7.5 million investment in domestic waste expansion
Greenstar, Ireland’s leading waste management company, has today (18 December 2007) confirmed the expansion of its household waste and recycling service into North County Dublin in an investment worth €7.5 million over five years.
Competing directly with Fingal County Council, who last week approved the introduction of a fixed annual waste charge of €110, Greenstar will commence services on a phased basis from January and offer customers a fixed charge of €55. Greenstar will also provide North Dublin’s first kerbside glass collection, offer 10% lower costs per bin/kgs collected and 50% more free green bin collections than the Council.
Greenstar’s expansion into the North County Dublin complements its move in August into the South County Dublin household waste collection market, which brought to eight the number of counties nationwide where Greenstar offers household waste and recycling services. Greenstar additionally launched a service in Cork City in February this year and expanded into Cork County in June as part of its stated strategy of expanding its household service footprint throughout Ireland. In total, Greenstar has announced a combined investment of €17 million in the expansion of its Cork and Dublin household waste and recycling services over the next five years.
Keith McCormack, Greenstar’s Head of Marketing, said: “Greenstar’s expansion into the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown domestic market in August and now the Fingal Council area ensures that competition and innovation thrives in these areas as well as offering Greenstar new customer bases.
Expansion of our household collection footprint and customer base in Ireland is a key business strategy for Greenstar and complements our leadership position in the commercial waste management and recycling sector. We are delighted to be offering North County Dublin householders an improved and more cost effective service on a phased basis from January and expect to be expanding further throughout Dublin in 2008.”
North County Dublin householders can avail of Greenstar’s service for a yearly charge of €55 plus €2.80 per lift and €0.175 per kg. Green bins will be collected twice a month and glass will be collected once a month at a charge of €5 per lift.
