Greenstar Announces Pricing Details for 2005 Pay by Use
Waste Service - 31.01.05
Greenstar Extends Dry Recyclables Collection Scheme to all
Wicklow Customers
Greenstar, provider of domestic collection and recycling
services to householders in North Wicklow, today (Monday 31
January, 2005) announced pricing details in relation to the
recently introduced Pay by Use waste service. It also announced
that from March 2005, all Greenstar customers will be able
to avail of its dry recyclables collection service, four months
ahead of schedule.
Pay by Use is a Government scheme designed to give the public
a financial incentive to reduce the amount of waste produced
and presented for collection and disposal. Its aim is to encourage
all householders to reduce waste, recycle more and change
waste management habits.
Greenstar's Pay by Use rates are based on usage patterns,
i.e., the number of times a customer presents a wheelie bin
for refuse collection. The rate bands are summarised as follows:

There are two additional bands available to households who
start the dry recyclables service in March. The first offers
between 37 and 42 regular refuse collections at a cost of
€428.00 and the second offers between 43 and 45 at a
cost of €449.00. Both these price bands include up to
10 dry recyclables collections.
Greenstar customers have been asked to pay €392 on account
for 2005 waste collection services. Refunds or extra fees
will be given or levied at the end of 2005 once the usage
level for each household has been determined.
Commenting, Jerry Dempsey, Greenstar's Sales and Marketing
Director said: "As per Government instruction, the Pay
by Use system is being introduced nationwide in 2005. Greenstar
customers will be charged only for the amount of waste they
dispose of. With the expansion of our dry recyclable scheme
customers will be encouraged to recycle more, thus reducing
the amount of everyday house waste presented for collection
on a weekly basis." He further added, "basically,
the more your recycle, the less you will have to pay."
Letters are being sent to customers outlining the Pay by
Use pricing structure. Additional information is also available
to customers through Greenstar's dedicated Pay by Use customer
support line on LoCall 1890 500 800.
Recycling information packs will be delivered to customers
during the months of February and March. The pack will include
recycling bags and information on how the system will work
in their area. The pack also includes recycling tips and information
about the types of materials that can be recycled and a collection
calendar for the year.
