Greenstar’s overall approach to Health and Safety is summarised in its Group Health & Safety Policy. Each Greenstar facility operates in accordance with the Group Management System (GMS). The GMS is based upon ISO14001 and the international health and safety management system, OHSAS 18001. To date Greenstar has sought and obtained ISO 14001 certification for its GMS & ISO18001 for its facility at Millennium Park, in Dublin.
Greenstar engages a specialist health & safety consultant to prepare site safety statements at all new facilities. This would be applied to the Ballyogan Recycling Park. The preparation of Greenstar site safety statements comprises of a comprehensive risk identification and mitigation process. Each Greenstar facility employs a safety officer trained, at minimum, to certificate level in safety, health and welfare. It is the responsibility of the site safety officer (EHS Manager) in conjunction with each facility manager to continually manage site health & safety. In accordance with the GMS, Site Safety Officers prepare risk assessments and determine mitigation measures as hazards are observed by him/her or brought to their attention. This ensures the effective management of health & safety on an ongoing basis.

Greenstar see Health & Safety as a value which encompasses the four elements of Service, Quality, Schedule & Cost
